Two half-baked ideas sneaked around to fondle each other in the middle of the night and this fic is the bastard child product of their fumbling union. I know I say all my fics gave me trouble, but this one? I had to axe 6 pages of stuff and re-write it all from scratch, and the lemon for the longest time was nothing more than [insert frottage lemon here] because I—the biggest perv in the world—couldn't come up with a decent sex scene.

Shock and horror, I tell you. Shock and horror.

And then, the lemon got cut altogether. Oh, and I totally ripped off of Harper Lee's To Kill a Mockingbird for the ending. Deal with it.

Anyway. Fic satisfies prompt #9, "The Sea," but it takes its fucking sweet time in doing so. I tried to fulfill the prompt to satisfy a request by goldphish_bowl, but I failed at that, too. Oh well. Read the fic anyway, please? I did work hard on it.

( The Father I Never Was )

Teehee for my first Reading Lab story! I wrote this my second day on the job, scribbling long-hand into my notebook whenever there was a lull in the action. That doesn't tend to happen much, but over the course of the time I'm there (I'm the only full-time teacher, everyone else is part-time), enough time elapsed for me to get nearly the whole thing written. I was so surprised to come home and find that it had gone to six pages!

Not much else to say about this one, save that it's my contribution for 20_inkspots prompt #20, "Time after Time." I really wanted to put a Nash/Belsio lemon into it, but it didn't fit, so ... maybe I'll do another fic? Yeah. Sure.

Ok, so all that whining on the first part of this mini-arc? Fuck it, this one was so much more of a pain in my ass, you have no idea. Especially after I finished it, forgot about it, then came back and practically re-wrote it. Urgh.

Now, the damn thing wants to be a three-part arc. If I didn't love it so much, I'd swear I fuckin' hate it.

I hope it's easier to read than it was to write, that's all I've got to say about it. I'm putting it in as prompt #17, "Where were you?" for 20_inkspots, because it didn't get far enough along to fulfill the prompt I had in mind for it, originally.

Guess that's what the next part'll have to do, eh? Fuckin' urgh.
